Crisply produced by Joey Sturgis, 'Speaker of the Dead' is as hard-hitting as Emmure get. That doesn't mean that the band's 4th album in under 4 years eradicates the nu-metal elements of previous LP 'Felony', but they are integrated much better here. Furthermore, the infusion of some electronic components is pulled off with surprising subtlety. Some kind of half-hearted concept doesn't help the dreadful lyrics, while the repetitive nature of the music isn't helped by the inclusion of 15 tracks (albeit at only 38 minutes in length). It might not be saying much, but this is Emmure's best album! Recommended Tracks: Solar Flare Homicide, Demons With Ryu & Bohemian Grove.

The opener is hilarious, especially with the music video. They keep saying "you can't fuck with us! We are fucking badass!" and it shows them smoking weed in an R/V. Funny shit. Also, they call themselves the "children of cybertron" but isn't cybertron the Transformers planet?
