I went to a Gustave Doré exhibition on Tuesday afternoon and some of his illustrations were next level so there we go: out

with the Hades, in with the Chat botté!

Honestly, I think Densmore might become one of my fave drummers. His approach was unique imo.

Ofc, I'm sure many will disagree.

His work in "The End" rules imo.

Nah, he was 19th century dude. Worked a lot on illustrations of the works of Dante, Shakespeare, Milton and whatnot. His influence is still pretty big nowadays though.

Everyone knows his work whether or not they recognise the painter/illustrator/sculptor is another story: http://englishare.net/literature/DC-dante-dore24-bertrand.jpg

I admittedly didn't know what his work was like prior to visiting the exhibition..

Guess I'm just not so much a cultured bastard where artwork is concerned, huh? I mean I also saw a Van Gogh exhibition the same day and hated it. Impressionism really isn't my dig.

I'll keep this at a 4 for now, it's close to a 4.5, but that will depend on how much I like other Doors albums.

I gotta say though, these guys were great songwriters. At least, I get that impression.

I'm a strange one when it comes to art. I appreciate all of it but I wouldn't have the first clue what I was looking at. I've actually burst out laughing at the Tate modern as a result of something which no matter how you looked at it was a nonsense.

try the Saatchi Gallery its really laugh out loud crap in there like a huge room with water in it that ripples when you blow on it or a big infltabale london bus - they call that art haha

My jams are Naturalism and Neo-Impressionism I guess. I hate Modern Art with a vengeance. I went to a museum in my first few weeks here in Paris and there's a room with three plain white squares of identical dimensions side by side - how anybody can attempt to analyse that is beyond my intellectual capacities.

"how anybody can attempt to analyse that is beyond my intellectual capacities"

you can bet there will be some tosser spunking over it in an article somewhere though and loads of pseudo-intellectuals will read it and nod sagely to themselves

My opinion of modern art has been forever dented by that gruesome experience. Never again.
