This is a good review Tyraelxy, convinced me to check it out (although the Armistice thing might have had a thing to do with it as well). But there are a few things I would change about the review, some nitpicky, some more obvious:

That, coupled with her strong improvement as a songwriter and musician should at least have made this an interesting album to listen to

To me, choosing the words "should at least have made this an interesting album" implies that it actually isn't interesting (which contrdicts the 4.5 rating). It could be just a preference thing, but that's how it comes across to me when I read it.

a simple lead-in by some choir you obviously don't care about

Careful making those assumptions...even if the name of the choir is neglibible, this statement makes you sound presumptuous.

everything on this album blends together so well that not loving it becomes pretty much impossible.

Even I have made proclamations like this before, but it sounds very unprofessional (IMO). It's probably better to make the effect of its flow something a bit more descriptive than it being "impossible not to love", which as we all know is purely a matter of opinion. Maybe something like "everything on this album blends together with an unforced sense of fluidity, beckoning the listener to indulge in the effortlessness of the experience." Or something like that.

Anyhow, this is a solid review from a grammatical and descriptive standpoint, just wanted to point out those minor qualms I had that kept it from being perfect.

Dear Steve, I respect your honesty but you shouldn't expect a perfect review from an average writer like me. js

Rasp said I was a sub-par writer so yeah when one of the better reviewers on the site says that it must be true.

Plus, nobody actually reads my reviews/checks out the albums I review so yeah.

My opinion is all that matters. Your writing is good but could use a little refining...the only thing that is subpar is your confidence!

couldn't have said it better. English is my first language and he still writes better than I do.

I'm trying to review something right now. I've gotten to 150 words 3 times and I keep scrapping it and starting over.

usually I just quickly write the whole review out without editing anything, even if it reads like
shit. then, I just go through it again slowly, editing everything. that seems to work for me

I do the same thing AF, but there's a lot of stuff that comes naturally for people who have english as their primary language and I don't have that. There's a lot of english vocabulary missing from my brain ;]

And cmon Brandon you're a great writer, go with your gut :]

I really prefer stream of consciousness reviews. If I can't write it all at once, I don't force it.

Wonderful review, Ty : )

Not really into French-sung music, but the samples you provided sound really good. I'll check it out, also because you gave it a 5 ;)
