I also thought that the effects on Aaron growls were unnecessary, but I still don't think that the album itself suffers because of them. The album suffers for the same reason as the previous one, which is: a whole lot of material, but a surprisingly small amount of memorable stuff.

This review reads like the album was not what you had pre conceived it should be so you wrote it with a chip on your shoulder.

Coming back to this the biggest offender for me regarding the vocals is that the screams are obnoxiously overproduced, loud and layered to shit while the clean vocals sound almost raw and kinda quiet in parts. They both don't match at all. Also the guitars and drums are so edited to shit it loses so much impact.
That being said this has aged surprisingly ok for me. I do like the boldness of this compared to how boring the following albums were, even if most of it is a big mess. Where The Worlds End is probably the best written song on this, it's definitely the most cohesive. Strong ending too.
