Yeah, and he named the knife "Blue Duck" if I remember correctly.
But yeah, this is one of my favorite albums and they put on an amazing show. Saw them last August and it was one of the best things I've ever experienced. They're every bit as crazy as they seem. Some very drunk guy named Cornelius kept buying them shots of Southern Comfort and bringing them on stage and Nathan's pure disgust for this guy was absolutely priceless. I don't think Nathan actually hated him, but the way he acted like he did was the funniest thing ever. I really think half of the set was just their ridiculous banter and mocking people in the audience. I cherished every moment of it.

They are pretty varied ya, sounds great in the mix too.
The melodic moments on here really steal the show, dat emotion.

When this first came out I thought it was bad. I thought Mechanical hand would be their high water mark and I would just file this away as uninspired and uninteresting along with natural death.
The problem was that I had not caught up yet. There's a learning curve to music, you have to understand the innovation before you can appreciate the self awareness and restraint shown here.
It makes me think about all of the probably awesome albums that I dismissed because I was too stupid to appreciate them

Right, mecHanical hand had me first listen. It was Nintendo sounding breakdowns by the minute. Then I took notice of all the funky time signatures and Sweet drum work.
With this album they dialed back the core a lot. And it's better for it, sure, but at the time it bored me.
