This still slays hard as fuck just in case anyone was wondering.

Jamming it now. m/
I don't get the low ratings for this tbh every track rules. Even if you don't like them now idk how this isn't appreciated more.

Listened to these guys every day back in middle school. I've really grown out of this stuff but I still have a soft spot for them

I've been jamming this one for years and it never gets old to me. I dig City of Evil and Nightmare hard too actually, but they're not even close to this one.

However even back 4 or 5 years ago, I thought the vocals were pretty damn bad

Shame I never listened to this in my A7X phase. Would have loved it but I was too pussy for harsh vocals back then and now it's just cringeworthy

"is it just this album with a bonus disc or is this actually remastered too?"
No it's not a remaster, but I'd say that the demos are worth the price because they are almost better from what I've heard, some songs differ and overall it feels rawer.

Not ashamed in the slightest for my rating, album slays.

Yeah dude this is very close to a 5 for me. Had it 5'd at one point and dropped it.

Actually I'm throwing the 5 back on, fuck it. Honestly not one weak track here.

Not gonna lie I thought of giving a 5 too, but I can't bring myself to because my attachment backfires and I feel like I shouldn't (twisted reasoning, I know). That said, I've tried many times in the past to sit and say "fine, now I'll stay really attentive and I will judge it the most objectively I can" but I never found what's wrong. I haven't spun this in full in years but I still listen to tracks like Chapter Four (my favorite) and they still rule really hard. Really varied listen (metalcore with touches of prog and even doom in Desecrate Through Reverence) and solid instrumentation and vocals. I'm going to be banal, yeah, but if this wasn't called Avenged Sevenfold it would have an avg of about 4.2-4.3 here.

Just saw this in the top of the cd tower and threw it in. Bloody ripper of an album. This and the seventh trumpet album are the only ones I have of these guys, never bothered listening to anything afer this one. Has to be above a 3.7 surely part of this rating is due to peoples opinions of their later works?

Get City of Evil and then you heard all, maybe try Diamonds in the Rough too.

Waking and City. Both rule hard. Too bad the rest of their work is terrible.

Though they'll never return to this style, it was still an amazing album.
