I really didn't know Blonde On Blonde came out the same day as this (it's actually been debated that it came out in July due to the ads and press releases being around in June), so I wonder if anyone would do that as well perhaps? JamieTwort maybe??

"I guess maybe a couple lyrical bits on the theme of alienation would strengthen the review since you mention the theme a few times"

Off to dinner and I'll make some space for a lyric or two. Thanks.

Pet Sounds (the turning point of the Beach Boys)

Revolver (the Beatles album where they completely let go of their past sound)

Freak Out! (the beginning to Zappa's lengthy career)

Blonde on Blonde (first double LP that wasn't a best of I believe)

1966 was a big year for rock

This can be a grower, or it can be immediate. It's a bit divisive, but not as much as Smile or Love You is.

This is extremely accessible so it shouldn't be too hard to listen to or anything like that

I'd advise finding the mono mix (the link on my first post has the full album in mono) since it is how Wilson intended it to sound, and while some of the recent stereo remixes sound nice, they don't come up to par with how this was meant to sound. Plus, there's the horrid duophonic mixes that Capitol released for decades before the Pet Sounds sessions box set came out with the first official stereo mix of the album in 1996 for the album's 30th anniversary.
