shit yes, glad you found it!!

@Trif, missed that comment but for me this is one of the most 'serious' Stereolab albums; it's not exactly po-faced, but similarly to Cobra (and moreso) there's a *slightly* darker edge and a definitely more mysterious atmosphere. the closer sums up that tone 100% for me and Prisoner of Mars thru Refractions are peak 'it' as well. I think the opener does a great job of introducing the mood tentatively/playfully, and Parsec is a really cool switchup later on, but Diagonals doesn't fit with that half as well imo

Ah gotcha. At least you don't hate it, judging from your 4.2 for this. And yeah I get your point of this being darker than the others. Diagonals is the most cheerful and the most light-hearted one here for sure and it does stand out a little in that regard.

I wanted to say I apparently like that lighter side more but that isn't true at all since this is clearly one of their best, if not their best, records.

Oh well, bottom line: this rules. A lot. Like hamid said.

65 min isnt that bad. really teetering on the edge. 70 minute mark is where i start to get pissed off, especially with hip-hop

Ideally, 40-45 minutes is the ideal album length in my opinion

Omg Ars you're going to love this.

And agreed about 40-45 minutes. Short but sweet, you can still cover a lot of ground.

50-65 i aint gonna fret over until i've heard the album, if it makes use of the run time it's no big deal but as soon as there is some notable filler is when i start gettin' right GRUMP'd

Are we really arguing about the ideal length? Everyone knows it’s how you use it that matters.
