It grew to be more favorable than my original runner-up, For We Are Many.

You think this tops This Darkened Heart? Crazy talk, says I. I would argue that even Overcome and For We Are Many both have more interesting guitar work than this does. Really, this just beats out their last few dumpster fires.
This is... fine. It does nothing special whatsoever, but as a long time fan I think it's cool to hear Phil really ripping into those harsh vocals again.
Will be interesting to see if they keep going after losing Oli.

Maybe I just have a huge soft spot for cathartic, emotionally tinged metal. As far as their future, Oli would have wanted them to move forward.

they hired that aguitarist for tours at least and said they are going forward.

I don't like their more 'clean core' sound, but I actually am quite fond of Everything's Wrong.

Everything's Wrong was a pretty good single. I must say out of the three that dropped before release, Wasteland was the best.

I liked Wasteland except for the chorus. I think it kind of derails the vibe the verses put out.

@Ecnalzen: I was that way at first, but I'm at the point where it really doesn't bother me. The production of the chorus in relation to the verses is really awkward, but that's as much as I can say.

Not too shabby of an album. I'd give it a low 3 after first listen. Weakest track is easily Just Tell Me Something.

Someone assure me I'm not alone in loving that song smh lol

Is that the one you told me to listen to and compare it to What If I Was Nothing?
I honestly prefer the latter
|

It's their trademark "country-rock" song

Yeah it was, Wonder.
And ye, it's bound to not be everyone's cup of tea, but it's a much better example of country ATR than any of the attempts on Madness at least.

Yeah I normally hate that shit but I honestly really vibe What if I Was Nothing for some reason

Album Rating: 3.5
That was the song that got me into the band (as well as "Stand Up" but I grew out of that shite) so I'm biased.
Also Wonder what would you have this rated if you rated it rn? lol

I haven’t checked anything outside of what you told me to check and the singles, but based off of that, I’d give this a 2. But that’s not fair to call yet.
I’ve been too obsessed with The Future is Cancelled by Captain, We’re Sinking the past few days, but I’ll get to this eventually.

I think you might like the heavier work on here more. Misery In Me, Broken, Blood I Spill, the title track... I'm just a huge sucker for ballads.
I don't blame you for seeing it as a 2-2.5 though.

I pre-ordered this album from the band's MerchNow, and it arrived today, got this fucker in my hands.

This is a better metalcore album than than the new Architects and Silent Planet, so I'm surprised this is only a 3 right now.
