Everyone seems to think this is worse than Assassination. Still intrigued to check it tho

i got a few tracks into this before i got tired of the really wooden vocal delivery, which was my same issue with assassination

I do miss Garm's more emotive vocals, for sure.
Probably why I love Blood Inside and Perdition City so much.

Machine Guns is a great tune.
Rest of the album is okay but not very memorable.

Oh yeah I felt the same way about his vocals here! Very monotonous and bland for his standards. Glad I wasn't the only one!

Some of the lyrics don't help either

I found this to be a bit different soundwise than Assassination, there’s a whole lot more live instruments used where Assassination was mostly synths and digital samples and stuff

Monotone vocals and cringeworthy lyrics were a problem as far back as Shadows, you guys just need to keep up.

Disliking Garm's vocals is news to me.

This is the first time Garm disappointed me vocally. Ever. Until earlier this week I didn't think it was possible.

Their Depeche Mode worship is as prominent here as before (a little less “Halo”, a little more “Personal Jesus”), but this time around it feels a little less like wry appropriation and more like full-scale immersion.
There was a time during which Ulver weren’t reminiscent of anything electronic/avant-garde...

will say the production on this is immaculate, really lovely tones
