Woah, dedex, I thought I was out of touch and you're out here saying that playing spikeball makes people cool? My social stock plummeted the first time I was spotted at a park cradling a palm-sized volleyball with murder in my eyes. Especially seeing as I was wearing someone's leather chaps and blasting this album on a portable speaker at the time

Should say I've been reading a little bit of this every day and enjoying it, so thank you. Heard this once a few months ago. Will listen again in a few months, maybe.

This is colossal. I still haven’t given it a proper listen end-to-end, but I’m pretty sure I’ve heard the whole thing in pieces — and levitated over certain tracks that really hit the spot. Definitely one of the rare albums that can authentically conjure the spirit of SILY, and it very well could be a landmark release. I worry the hype could negatively impact people’s reception, though, because there’s no denying how nearly every listener will at some point feel crushed by the length, or feel bored upon perceiving some leisurely stretch of less-inspired curation, or feel both (at which point the album’s risk-taking qualities de-reinforce each other, leaving you adrift in a sterile soundscape that *could* be an illusion or *could* be legitimate grounds for disappointment). Still, my intuition is that DJ Sabrina’s pentology, which is only just now getting some “mainstream” attention—I mean, it’s going to take me the whole fall to digest these albums—deserves a robust cult-status on par with, say, Floral Shoppe. Because unless this first wave of general praise and appreciation has it all wrong, Sabrina’s discography is likely as much a significant cultural object as it is a collection of bangin’ tunes. This album, at least, exudes classic energy. *Is* it classic? Doesn’t matter. What it is is unrelenting, the Mad Max: Fury Road of plunderphonics albums in the era of para-vaporwave outsider sensibilities. It ain’t for everyone, but I’m so in love with it. Can’t wait to work through the other four sets. Thanks to all the reviewers for putting together an entertaining, incentivizing read. This is grand.
