ok i've never liked them. i'll give tehm a samll degree of repsect for re-working their sound. But this suggests two things to me: 1) they never really liked emo (or post-hardcore or whatever you ppl call it) music that much and as such they only played to the teen-whiner audience cos they could. 2) they are not half as talented as they wud like us to believe and as such cannot really come close to pulling this style off.

Couple all this with the fact that i dont like this big rock style that much and thsi album is probably not on my favourites list. though i am yet to here all of it. I've heard like 4 tracks.

I don't think this sounds liek queen but it is big rock n roll stadium style. Still a few nods to the pop-hardcore/pop-punk shit they've always done. But i would say that they are definitely going all pompous rock n roll epic.

ok it is as samey as i expected it would i be, i just listened to the stream and most of the tracks were very similar to other tracks. All in all i cudnt listen to alot of the tracks all teh way through because they were so skippable. I would often wait till the chorus but by then i had often heard most of what was on offer judging by the tracks i made it all the way through. I really cannot believe that Gerard Way sed in K! that "No record has ever sounded like this."

How are you proud of them? Are you their mother?

Perhaps he is proud of their growth. Happy?

Your comment didn't just state your opinion, but instead it mocked people who gave a rating. You're both no better.

Newsflash: they were never emo. They themselves said so. It's sad the a mislabeled "emo" band knows more about the genre than their critics.

Stop bandying about terms you don't understand the meaning of.

I have to say that this is the best record that I've listened in my whole life

Wouldn't doubt it. though, I'm sure you acted like that too when you were younger.

After repeated listens, still no growth on me. It sucks that this is a big set back on what caught my attention in the first place, the energy.

Never denied it. It's the voice of someone who's full of youthful enthusiasm, and needs another year or two to take in a dozen or so more albums to broaden perspective.

I know someone's going to get on my case for generalization, but I've noticed that broadening of horizons usually occurs in the late teens/early 20's.This Message Edited On 10.25.06

I generally agree with that. It just doesn't seem that way on sputnik since it contains such a high concentration of 14-16yr. old music geeks.

Agreed with Zesty, sometimes Musical Puberty happens at a very early age complete with awkward flings with bad bands that aren't your music taste at all. Example: When 13, I listened to X and Y.

Sputnik has a higher concentration of people who are devoted thoroughly to music, however.

To the lay person, music is something for the car, parties, etc. They have a couple of bands that they really enjoy, but they don't feel the need to do a lot of digging as they just wait for something good to come to them.

To a music geek, it's a little bit different. And of course, for every guy on Sputnik we have who's 14-16 and very cool and knowledgeable, we have just as many Steve Vai wannabes who lord their encyclopedic knowledge of virtuoso discographies over everyone in the same way that among the lay people you get the occassional wanker who thinks any band that hasn't cracked the Billboard Top 40 in the last 5 years isn't worth listening to.

In short, it takes all kinds. This Message Edited On 10.25.06

Good review, by the by.

Very warm and fuzzy. Well, maybe not.

I did find those "la's" on "Dead" to be very chuckleworthy. Not as bad of an album as I was expecting, but I doubt I'll buy this, even after listening to the stream.

I decided a while back that I hated MCR then for some reason I bought Three Cheers, and I'm actually glad I did. I'll be picking up Black Parade soon.
