This is a really boring album. I picked this up for $10 at fye and was unpleasantly surprised by how not good this is. The songwriting has no depth, soloes aside, the lyrics aren't good and the vocals haven't improved from their previous releases. Stick with The War Within and The Art of Balance.

And While you're at it, pick this one up and complete the set, as it is a great addition to Shadows Fall's releases.

I'm young too lol

Actually, aren't quite a few of the reviewers on Sputnik between the ages of 14-17?

Something like that...

I haven't listened to this for a while. Nowhere near as good as The Art of Balance.

Yeah, agree with ya there. It is very boring for the most part. And I guess this is

just me, but I think this is nearly as blatant a Metallica ripoff as Trivium's. The scary

thing is, that Brian Fair's Hetfield imitation is actually near spot-on on songs like

Venemous. ("I am my own worst enemy-YAH!" and all the annoying layered vocals...)

When will people learn that there are far better bands to rip off of? Sigh... (Not to say

that I don't like Metallica, I do, but I gotta admit that there are bands that rip off other

people and it isn't half as annoying as the Metallica worshipping bands. )

This is nowhere near as bad as Trivium's garbage. This sounds original at least in the musicianship, if not in the vocals (I disagree).

I guess you're right about the musicianship, but the songwriting is bland, which does not save tight musicianship in the long run. Trivium's effort IS without a doubt WORSE, but as ripoffs go, this is still a bit scary. At least this band at least tries to be a BIT original. But hey. This is their first total thrash record. Gotta give 'em a bit of credit. In a few years, I bet this band will come into their own. (Can't wait for that; personally. )

Well actually, if you want to talk about originality, they already peaked back when they had a multi-genre sound (AOB). I still don't think this is totally Thrash, though, because it's alot slower and has alot less of a Punk influenced sound.

Well, yeah, seeing as how thrash is one of the many genres that is mainly a mix of punk and metal.

Brian Fair really sucks big dick on this album.

Someone should write a negative review for this. I would, but I always have trouble reviewing Shadows Fall.

Yeah he does suck balls, but I don't really think this is one of the albums that needs a negative review.
