i mean i have it at a 4 it's good, but no 5.0-good.

and i gotta agree w/ downer (lol), some lines are bad, and some vocals...

1. do you listen to any other trip hop

2. horace andy is a reggae singer and he has one of the most unique voices ive ever heard for the genre. just because something isn't your cup of tea doesn't mean its bad. and secondarily

But the rest's isn't stellar anyway

you just said Elizabeth Fraser and Sara Jay 'aren't stellar' singers and thats downright fuckin silly. Ever heard of Cocteau Twins dude? smh

3.

3. then what was the point? that's the question

refer to point one. robert del naja and daddy g's vocals are practically the cornerstone of what trip-hop vocals are supposed to sound like. trip hop is rooted in hip-hop, they aren't 'singing', its almost a moody dark twist on rapping and thats exactly how they are supposed to be. go listen to tricky.

also u didnt name any bad lyrics.

1. nope lol. wait wait, if i do i'll like this more cuz then rec me something! :00

2. but unique =/= good. the guys' voice doesn't add anything to the music, nor is it particularly pleasing to listen to. about the girls, their voices can be kinda annoying, but they're ok, even good sometimes. also lol cocteau twins, that's one rec.

3. never said anything about the rappers tho. sometimes they can be good but others they just rap and thats it, not a lot to support the album. but i admit they are quite good. you do know i have this at a 4.0 tho, right. it's not bad, but if so many people enjoy this like a 5.0, then so can i (probably). let's make that happen

if you're expecting "LIKE A PLASTIC BAG"-bad lyrics, then i tell you that's not what i'm talking about. it's just that some lyrics can break the mood if you pay attention, thats no good. still

"This album is aural panic attack."

yeah it's like being totally alone on some street in London at 2am and it's been raining recently and there's not a soul around. then all of a sudden a car pulls up in the distance and a bunch of dudes get out wearing gloves and suits and start walking towards you.

not that keen on the title track but most of this rules hard. the tempo change in Group Four...

1. well if you know nothing about trip hop you might want to look into the thousands of amazing albums that this inspired

some other important and influentials: Portishead - Dummy, Tricky - Maxinquaye, DJ Shadow - Endtroducing, UNKLE - Psyence Fiction

2. I did not insinuate that unique = good, i was just explaining why i like his voice. I can understand people not liking his voice, but to say its bad is stupid. id like to see you go all tremelo like that motherfucker, he can do fucking wild shit with his voice.

their voices can be kinda annoying, but they're ok, even good sometimes. also lol cocteau twins, that's one rec.

ugh dude so much hate for you right now, where is your class? Elizabeth Frasier is from Cocateu Twins. She is an unparalleled singer. Look them up, they are hardly an obscurity and are influential on shoe gaze.

3. there are only 2 'rappers' and they are the duo that make the music alongside one other dude who left after this album. and there are only 3 guest vocalists. and people enjoy this as a 5 because it is quintessential to trip-hop.

and the lyrics are perfect and poetic and enigmatic and mesmerizing

i will say this is a mood album, it clicks when u hear it in the right setting. for me when this album first clicked it was through drugs. its just got this pulsating atmosphere and also what i said about the lyrics. there is no other album that has this same vibe and there never will be. I guess Dummy by Portishead is the closest thing.

anyways this is my favourite album of all time so i will defend it to the grave and think less of you forever if you speak ill of it (jk but also kind of not jk)

1. and delve into who knows what, like i tried to do with post-rock no thanks im gonna end up hating it but will listen to the recs, hoping for the best < /3

(i've heard dummy tho, didn't like that much. i have the sunday gift too, eh i guess i just don't like trip.hop)

2. sorry, not seeing it in horace. elizabeth is a good singer i guess but i don't like how she sings. (even though female vocals are always a plus, i just like them more in general). but a softer voice would just, omg.

3. i'll keep waiting for the mood, then. same with burial lol, but it's been like a year and nothing
