for those of you who love this check live at massey hall 1971

it's where he played these songs for the first time and it is bloody brilliant!

Album is so beautiful... can't listen to it that often cause most Neil Young's music- while still amazing- depresses me.

this is one of the only classic neil albums i just can't get into. it's so overproduced and has none of the sense of unease/dysphoria and grit that makes the ditch albums so great, nor the energy of ENTIN and rust never sleeps

NONE? alabama? one wheel in the ditch. that's some for you

also, all the guy can handle is a maid to come cook his meals, he can't deal with love at all that sounds pretty dysphoric in my ears. all the songs aren't overproduced, just a couple, the rest are just simple and tight (aesthetics man) i mean the drums here are so fucking tight and they don't miss a beat almost no filler. sorry about the rant, but i'm beginning to really appreciate this tho i still prefer after the gold rush

overproduced is a bit harsh, i guess this style of stuff (after the goldrush included) just isn't my style. I was talking musically rather than lyrically when i said i prefer a little more roughness in my shakey

Beyond overrated. I'll never understand how anyone thinks this is one of his best. It's inconsistent, unbalanced, boring, and has Neil repeating ideas. The addition of the London Symphony Orchestra doesn't improve the tracks, it just covers up the half-assed songwriting.

+1 for 'Old Man'
