if this is how you're gonna look at music then every album would be a 2.5

I dont agree with the reviewer rating. This is, of course, part of the game.

I guess I can see certain similarities between Heir Apparent and Waruun but it's not enough to bother me. I feel like everyone is saying death metal or black metal bands rip off Opeth though (esp. HA) it's starting to get old. Maybe my ears don't discern well enough or my musical taste isn't sophisticated enough to notice these things, but unless there's like a Coldplay-bad ripoff I just don't care or see why anyone would. I thought this was a great review but I really enjoy this album.

Speaking of similarities, the beginning riffs in Warruun and Giants sound rather similar to me.

"Traditionally, black metal is relentless, cold, dark and evil. In contrast, psychedelic music is warm, smooth, creamy, and rich. Could there be a worse fusion than a mixture of the two?"

Have you ever heard of Nachtmystium?

As much as I love this, your explanations for how this album sounds to you were descriptive and reasoned in a way that even with my extreme bias your point of view makes sense to me.

Have a pos, but don't go making me question my affection for this band anymore good sir.

Nah, this album is actually awesome. Listen to the next one for a more mediocre version of their prog sound.

I’d love to know the points of reference for psychedelic bands here, because there have been plenty of dark psychedelic albums made long before Enslaved even considered this fusion. It’s like saying clean vocals don’t mix with metal, because one is ‘warm, smooth and creamy’ and the other is ‘Harsh, abrasive and heavy’. It’s complete nonsense. One of the reasons an album like Anthems To The Welkin At Dusk worked so well was because of its psychedelic elements.
