Saw these guys live a while ago, i didn't get the impression that this was metalcore though...

Deathcore:
All Shall Perish - This Is Where It Ends
Born Of Osiris - The Discovery
Beheading Of A King - Quasar: Preserving Legacy
Metalcore:
The Human Abstract - Digital Veil
Cave In - White Silence
Sylosis - Edge Of The Earth (they eliminated most of their metalcore influences but whatever :])
Hands - Give Me Rest
Just some non-generic stuff I really enjoyed this year, I hope you'll like these Blake

it's more along the lines of Converge or Poison the Well than any of the more "melodic" metalcore or whatever. But it's also very post-hardcore and sludge influenced.
Tyraelxy: heard the All Shall Perish and Born of Osiris records; weren't really my thing (ASP was definitely the better of the two). Will probably check out the others though.

Nah this ain't metalcore but idc i love it, I should probably be on the lookout for mennomite now....

This is metalcore through and through, just not the gay shit you're probably refering this to. They utilize alot of early 90s noise rock and bits of sludge but yeah, hardcore and metal = metalcore last time I checked.
And get on Mennonite asap.

I don't think it's metalcore at all. It's sludgy noise rock that derives from the sound established by Unsane. KEN Mode copy plenty of their ideas actually. It's still cool though, but quite derivative at times.
|
| |
i mean i think KEN Mode take as many cues from Deadguy as they do from Unsane

You might be right, but the Unsane references seem more palpable and I'm quite sure Deadguy were also influenced by them.

agreed, Unsane rule

Ummm last time I checked, this had massive breakdowns, huge metallic hooks, and godforsaken hardcore mixed together with a dash of noise rock. That definitely qualifies this as metalcore through and through. Whatever though, glad people love this album.
And yes, Unsane rule, especially the album the put out this year!
