This album is good and could have been great if they lost the spoken word pieces. Unlike Sonic Attack, there is no humor or fun to be had with the 3 spoken pieces on this set. I am also not a fan of Kings of Speed. The song is an ok rocker, but it completely sounds out of place on this record. So that’s about 25% of the content I have no use for. Thankfully I love every other song on here with 4 being at the very top of my favorite Hawkwind song list (Magnu, Assault and Battery, Golden Void and Spiral Galaxy). Simon House makes good use of the mellotron and the addition of Alan Powell on drums gives this album their most progressive feel to date. Opa-Loka, The Demented Man and Dying Seas are also terrific songs. Lemmy’s work is often buried in the mix, excepting for Magnu where he really caries the song.
I recently purchased the 2 disk + Cd deluxe set by Atomhendge and really like spacing out to the 5.1 mix, though unfortunately Spiral Galaxy could not get a proper remix because the tapes are missing. Much of the bonus tracks are live songs from previous releases, some are ok, other not, but the Spiral Galaxy demo is an excellent find and worthy bonus track.

Monoglum: Can't say I agree with you there. Whilst usually spoken word pieces threaten to cut the flow of an album, I think they are a positive boon for Warrior on the Edge of Time. The narrative focus I thought was exceptionally implemented in these tracks and from a conceptual point of view couldn't have been placed any better. I love sitting down and taking in the atmosphere of "Warriors" or "Standing at the Edge" for example, where the narrative mixed in with Hawkwind's usual brand of symphonic thrum ends up being a great mix. This is one of the best albums I can say has a sound usage of stand-alone spoken-word pieces amongst the flare the rest of the album presents.

Well Kings of Speed was a bonus track anyway. Very good live too.
Also, this album is based off some serious work it isn't meant to be as humorous.
Also, I'm back!

Lemmy, as a bass player, definitely shone more in Hawkwind
