There are about 75 people in this band. One of the members carries 327 keys on his pants. The keyboardist dresses up as the Internet. One drummer has a ponytail. One drummer is eight feet tall. They all live together in a studio apartment in Portland, Oregon.
how is this not an objective 0.5/5

well, at least you gave it a listen. personally i love the texture and emotion in the vocals, but i can see how that could come off differently for different people.

the instrumentation is pretty nice for the majority of the album but those vocals are just cringey to me
|
| |
seriously? I love the guys voice.

Me too.

I'm not a fan of the vocals either. I like the style in moderation, but it's hard to appreciate or emotionally connect with when I rarely understand what the guy's saying. It isn't how he pronounces, but he almost whispers so much and I just need more to latch onto.
Do dig the instrumentation though.

is this actually that good though? it's hard to tell with sputnik averages these days. I don't think I trust anyone on the ratings page....

fair enough, Jacob. I think I'm more forgiving because I've listened to the band so much already
(possible bias alert), and generally I usually go out of my way to look up lyrics and stuff up when I
can't decipher people's vocals. and quite honestly half of the impact is in how the vocals are
delivered here: they're raw but have a really theatrical force so even if I didn't understand the
words at first I still felt an emotional connection.
but yes, for many listeners that style can definitely be off-putting. it really depends on how you
listen to vocals, really.
