Thinking about it this album is definitely what tuned me into Neil Young, Dino Jr and those heady days of being a miserable teen arsehole.

Jokes aside I'm sure this must be the real deal, I think you might've recommended that to me over a year ago, I should probably get on it.

Boney you need to jam bro. This and Automatic for the People have really stood the test of time for me better than anything. There's albums that never lose their magic no matter what. This is defo one of 'em.

Automatic for the People I need to give more attention too, I've heard it several times but never properly put it into my rotation.

This is gonna take some time to sink in. Wasn't blown away on first listen, didn't like some of the vocalist's affectations and some songs sounded somewhat sterile.

If I had to pick one album that sounds like the 90s more than any other it'd be this

It's, perhaps, a little too 90s.

For people who cut their rock n' roll listener teeth in the 90s this has a huge sense of nostalgia working for it, so I can see it is maybe too 90's for some

Some 90s alt-rock (btw this is totally alt-rock, not really alt-country/Americana like I was led to believe by RYM) has a certain vibe that puts me off a bit. As I said though it will probably grow.
I'm not so sure what this guys is doing with that higher register stuff though... That repeated "Oh jambalaya" in Dixie Drug Store for example.
