Trains, really? I mean, it's good but it doesn't have the same substance as his other great tracks

I am on roughly my third listen, this is album of the year material. Steven Wilson is always pushing himself to be better and better.

I like "Russian On Ice", but the end is kinda anticlimactic just waiting for the same riff to come back. Great melody though. I don't see the big deal with "Arriving Somewhere..." either but opinions. "Ancestral" is my favorite epic of his so far, though it is basically Wilson's best shot at "Starless" or "Fracture" with a little Floyd and a riff alluding to ELP's "Kife's Edge." Love those riffs combined at the end with the rising keyboard.

I also love the opener to Raven and Ancestral as well. Also Arriving Somewhere is amazing.

Similarly to you, I get the appeal of Ancestral but I don't think it's necessarily anything special, unlike Routine which is my favourite SW track as of late

Yeah Routine is my second favorite here. How about that final heavy riff and scream? Haha it felt totally jarring at first, but I really dig it now.

That was totally unnecessary IMO but I'm kinda getting used to it. The boys choir and ending is my favourite bit in the entire album

oh, we started a list of SW's greatest tracks? And Mongi hasn't written each and every song of his yet? Strange times we live in indeed! Just kidding.

Ancestral is heavenly good, though the epics of TRTRTS are just superior. Now, hpw could all of you forget songs like Dark Matter, Anesthetize, The Sky Moves Sideways, Moonloop, Don't Hate Me and Hatesong....

There should be an international Lightbulb Sun awareness day, such an underrated album.
