only half of this album is decent

TS&TW was much better - this sounds similiar in some ways though

I wonder what the next album will throw up, i cant imagine they can continue on the same sort of way?

i enjoyed hero of war, but admittedly i had to get used to its lyrics. it wasn't like swing life away or roadside where I actually liked the song at first listen. by far the best song on this album (at least for me) is the dirt whispered. quickly becoming an overall fave of RA's repertoire. i will admit that most of the album sounds much too generic for me. i had to listen to it a couple of times before i could distinguish several of the songs in the middle. the first five songs i believe are the strongest in the entire album, and from there, it's just too meh (for lack of a better word).

I enjoyed Rise Against much more when every other song wasn't trying to make a political point. Still a good album musically and decent overall, but didn't hit my expectations

on the topic of "hero of war" the reason that the lyrics are so blunt and descusting is to convey the belief that war is not an answer. making the lyrics this way is to make you listen closely, and to provoke thought, in hopes that you can understand the pointlessness and savageness of war as a whole. whether it be for oil or land its unnessacary and uncalled for. this is the thought there trying to bring into the light. but for some reason people shrug it off as bad music, insted of a clever way of persuasion.

on a better note, i feel every album has something for everyone, there is a song to fit every person that cares to listen to them. rise against is in my opinion the last of the great political musicions. This Message Edited On 04.03.09

descusting? do you mean disgusting?

also war isn't always pointless/savage, i don't understand people who argue that point

On the topic of Hero Of War, I think the fact that it is so right to the point and simple makes it very effective. I felt quite emotional hearing it for the first time and still do when I hear it.

I really enjoyed the album, although I would have to say Siren Song is always going to be my favourite album by these guys.

No one else has mentioned but I think Kotov Syndrome is the worst song on this album. The whole "Spin out of control" repeated over and over is kind of lame in my opinion. I still don't mind the song but I think it's the worst on the album.

Massive RA fan going to see them and Rancid in June should be sick. I also saw them with Thrice. TGA and so on was a wicked show.

This is pretty good, but the ending of Entertainment and Hero of War ruin some of it for me. This could become a 3.5 soon, though. The strong songs on this are REALLY good.

^ That's good.

I realized a couple days ago that RA alternate between getting better and worse with each album, which means the next will be better than this.
