Its nice to see all of this sci-fi crimes appreciation. I think it easily stands above all of their other albums, and the genre as a whole. Its the closest they've come to really breaking the MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLD.

I also think sci fi crimes is easily their best record.

Sci-Fi is definitely tied for first place along with Point#1 for me. I'm generally a huge heavy music fan, but Sci-Fi was excellent songwriting which overcame it's softer musicianship. Point#1 just has so much youthful energy, it's hard not to dig it. I think Hats Off is their weakest, but even that was really solid.

Tbh I wish that Chevelle went in more of the direction taken on 'Fell into your shoes'

Oh my but the sound ... the sound is so shitty. Clipping everywhere, clearly audible and absolutely no dynamic range ... Shame.

This may be Chevelle's most meaty album yet. In the fact that it truly takes 10+ listens to really start to feel the album flow and individual song progression. Opposed to Hats Off where the songs may initially be fun but soon lose their appeal.

hmmm nah

Hats did grow off rather quickly, but La Gargola was even worse and this already feels like somewhere between them in terms of replay value

I agree on the sound a little. I really hope they don't use Joe Barresi again. I'd like them to do another with Brian Virtue.

I guess we will see in a few years. This should probably be around a 3.9ish though, just because there is no way it should be rated higher than Endless Light.
