Hm, that's weird. I found them basically on par with Katatonias vocals. Opeth vocals are wholly different so I find the comparisons a bit off.

Jonas Renkse is undoubtedly more distinctive, though.

Yeah well a band is more than just the vocalist too btw lol. The instrumental skill on display here is quite pleasant tho

yeah I can't knock the instrumentals on this, but the cleans and lyrics make this unlistenable for me sadly

I always get a bit disappointed with every album since "The Novella Reservoir"

You mean with Novella included? Because I don't understand everybody's fascination with Novella. They stripped their sound and became more generic with that album. Perhaps that's exactly why it had success...
For me this is at least their best since The Pale Haunt Departure. Great gothic metal with a healthy dose of death metal (and excellent growls) thrown in

I'm listening to the new stuff on Spotify and it sounds excellent! I don't know how a band like this came out of the blue with such great metal mastering in 2019 but I'm all for it! If it's on Spotify, then maybe even the CD may sound great.
EDIT: THE CD SUCKS but the Qobuz download is indeed DR13!
