The point was FLAC or low bitrate mp3 or anything, the issue with this album's sound is probably apparent with any type of file.

i can tell the difference with flac especially with super dynamic punchy records like moving pictures, brothers in arms and all that shite mostly in cymbal detail. i do have a hifi with proper loud speakers n shit. 320 mp3 is fine tho for most things

on a record like this ya it aint gonna do much good

Yeah every Slowdive fan should hear Pygmalion it's a masterpiece

Kill I predict you'll slap the 3.5 on this one, maybe not a 4 just cause of the production and you're very sensitive to that. It's a winner for sure, and I don't know why six doesn't dig.

The production on this should be silkier, more smooth. It sounds too shrill, really.

edit: Yeah, if this album was produced and had the vocal performances and mixing of Pygmalion, it'd be a solid 3.5.

Even though they're technically the same genre I always heard very different sounds from MBV and Slowdive, they don't really match moods. SD doesn't do the dense wall of sound nearly as much, and have more lighter dream pop moments.

Melonhead has been so wrong all year long. This gets a 4 but new FJM gets a 9. He must be having opposite year.

I would say that for once he is correct. He was abaolutely right on Narkopop too.

I feel like fans of these comeback projects are being lenient about the quality of these comeback records because respective artists had stellar golden ages. That's just my quick take on all that.

I guess I still have to disclaim that there isn't anything wrong with getting something out of this album, anyways.
