I'm a huge Brand New fan myself (as with every other user on this site) but this is way better honestly

Has no business being 78 minutes... there's only two kinds of songs padding this thing: anthemic rock ala Titus Andronicus (but not as euphoric) and chamber pop ala The National (but not as stirring). The narrative arc is interesting but in the middle I just tune out while they wade through a swamp of chamber pop. I've outgrown The Monitor and this brand of "empowering" rock music so my objection is subjective... still would've liked this more without the stuffing.

Achilles is one of my least faves. First 4 tracks plus Deepest Sighs (best song ever) and Say Yes to Life are where its at.

Not a single track does not belong on this album imo. I am not usually a fan of long records, but I literally ate up every single song on this album no problem. But I see that as a valid complaint.

Achillies is a wonderful song, but there are a lot of better ones.

First three tracks, Let Me Down Easy, Do Not Let Your Spirit Wane, Heart as a Muscle, Deepest Sighs and Say Yes to Life are all 5/5 songs.

grown to love this despite its shortcomings, the consistency in songwriting, conscientious lyricism and battered optimism ultimately win me over. do wish though, that there was bit more bangin about on a couple tracks because thats where i feel the band really shine
