Yeah this is definitely growing on me as well. Almost on the level of IDLS.
And yeah I feel like it's kinda unfair to criticize the album for not having a lot that sticks out after just one or two listens. This album is pretty (for lack of better word) dense for as short as it is.
I think I've reached the point where I should just shut my mouth when it comes to new releases until I've listened to it like 8-10 times,, too many times I've caught myself talking out my ass and being reactionary lately.

ye its funny watching people formulate assertive opinions immediately and then slowly retract over time
not that theres anything wrong with this but i think people should be self aware of their tendency to be quick to judge

aye aye, what can i say. Most of this year's most hyped over releases have been decent at most.
Maybe i'm just getting Doof... i mean, getting old.

"hell, if the concerts are any indication, Some Rap Songs is less than half of the new music Earl Sweatshirt has sitting in his vaults."
God I hope so. I'd be pretty salty if he dropped this and disappeared for another few years.

judging something based off of its hype has kind of always been dumb to me

listened too this twice, and forgot about it the next day, twice. it's an underwhelming and rushed snapshot of earl at his current state, respect for the projects intentions buut i probably wont bump this in my car, ever.

Good thing is i don't judge things based on their hype, but ignoring the fact that we currently live in a cultural landscape that's feeds on hype is being short-sighted imo. Calling people who don't want to get sucked into that sinkhole of hyped content after hyped content (be it music / tv / movies / games / etc.) ALL THE TIME 'contrarians' is not 100% fair.
I personally feel it's getting harder and harder to tell when we like something for what it is and when we just got hyped into liking it. Sure, time passes and temporal divertiment usually fades into oblivion and the things that affected us more tend to stay with us, but i also feel i've wasted more time than i'd like to admit trying to 'get' things that everybody seemed to have LOVED on 1-2-3-4th listen and i just didn't get it or downright think it's fucking trash. Same thing happens to me with other stuff, too.
Never got peer pressured into drugs, but i get peer pressured into bland, meaningless content, i guess lol
