vocals seemed so hit and miss, and yes at times he sounded like hetfield which turned me off a tad... but the musicianship and choruses have some awesome moments. Could be a grower but it fits just fine in the great category

I feel like I should give this a 4. It was a very important release in their career and it's one of the smoothest transition albums I've ever heard. I scored it a 3,5 because I think they perfected this formula later on. But I feel it somehow deserves better

its a shame that Pasi didnt stay with the band, his vocals were the best and defined Amorphis up until Am Universum. Crimson Wave still goes hard as does the acoustic version of My Kantele
