But isn't that a good thing? I mean isn't that how one should deal with all of their songs?

If you mean that you should just sit down and space out to this, then yeah

because it's still enjoyable

what? absolutely not, some of their stuff is the most touching music i've ever heard and nothing on this album even compares due to the soppy and shallow nature of the entire thing for me. it's really music i think about and feel, here it's just a bunch of captivating moments with none of the depth
idk it's a bunch of songs that have the capacity to hit hard but they just haven't for me. the riff and energy in untouchable part 1 is absolutely fantastic but part 2 is overkill, i really like the next track, the next two are okay, the storm before the calm is alright (especially the ending), i always forget the track after that, and the last two are probably the best but still nothing in comparison
it's a well composed album but the passion and depth i've always liked in my anathema just isn't there, or just isn't speaking to me in this album. i'm sorry but it's highly unlikely my mind will be changed, i can recite this album back to front and i've given it so many chances, i've really tried to love it, i just can't. ]:

I agree with you with most of that Noctus, but I think they still have passion, just not as much depth. I still like it though, you can't hate this, only not like it much

3 isn't really a negative score, i do like this, just nowhere near as much as their other albums apart from a couple

But that's what I was discussing with johnnydeking, I thought you were refering to "listening to Anathema" as an intelectual process devoid of emotions, my bad.
As for the rest, I understand how you feel towards the album, I just don't agree at all. For me, it's like un upgrade of WHBWH, much more intense and shivering. Seriously, it's not like I'm 5 albums all the time, this one really hit me.
Oh and tbh your description sounds more like a 3,5/4 than 3. :P

I thought with a little better execution this album would have topped We're Here which to me is so close to a classic. The first 6 songs on that record were simply stunning!
