This is hardly a new sound, maybe done a little better than most but Arctic Monkeys sound like alot of other British Bands.

Average. Don't know why, but this seems sooooo overhyped.

From what I've head off this I think I would give it a 4 or a 3.5.

Agreed on the live performances though.

Rolling Stone seemed nearly ready to have oral sex with all of them after watching their "electrifying live show". But I'm still freakin addicted to that mag.

Yeah, I don't know what it is but no matter how stupid RS gets I always read it.

"But then an unseemly Crazy Frog-shaped cloud begins to appear, and you realise the undercurrent of that image - large swathes of Britain's youth are so disaffected by music today - music that, for the most part, doesn't really say anything to them - that a song can be qualified by how well it translates into an alarm. "

Incredibly good writing there. But this band... well, I'll shut up now.

I've heard their singles, they're severely overrated.

The video for 'View From The Afternoon' is crap.. its just this kid playing the drums to the song in this run down tower block estate. Right at the end someone almost beats him to death (dont blame them) but he's saved when he suddenly stops playing.. weird

Apparantly they've created a lasting impression in America... can anyone really be THAT catchy?

I still think this is one of the better albums of the year, so far.

Great album, a friend of mine that was in the UK told me about these guys awhile back and they were saying these guys were godly there, so I checked them out and told my friends about them, they said they were ok, they hear them on the radio and they go nuts for them too...dam wankers lol

Anyway I love this album, Roit Van is one song they shouldnt have put on and shoudl have been replaced by Curtains Closed or Space Invaders (some of their early demos) I hear they are already working on their next album which is supposed to be a big turn from their debut. I say just let them do what they want and I am confident it will turn out great.

Great album, Great band, and they have a pretty promising future if they keep on this track. Alex Turner, PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM COURTNEY LOVE!!!!

What a load of arse. Not only is the NME beastly, and the oldest official music magazine around, but, generally speaking, it's nine times out of ten correct. As for The Guardian, you can argue that they gave Arctic Monkeys a phenominal live review, saying the only problem was the lighting. Something completley unrelated to the music.

Lighting can affect the whole feel of the show. So yeah, it is related to the music.

I guess I should check this out even though I don't like the only song I've heard from them.

You could argue that, "Eliminator Jr." You could also argue, however, it means jack all. Compared to the music, lighting is of minimal importance. Its not as "lasting" as the music. No doubt the lighting will differ on the next tour/live set. It is a passing phase. It should not be related to music in general.

As for Kripes, I'd check them out. Obviously each to his own, and they aren't quite "up to the hype", but needless to say, they are immense.
