not a bad thing imo. love how raw the production is on this. Kurt Ballou did a fantastic job. also, that buildup to the blast beat in Milano is phenomenal.

Maybe I’m being overly harsh. I don’t mind a bit of sludge. But do struggle with a whole album with no room to breath. I also struggle with Australasia for the same reason. Just lacking something in the treble and higher end to get a bit of definition and clarity. Agreed about Milano though, at just over half way the track abruptly stops leaving just the shimmering guitars in the background and then that blastbeat - almost with a black metal feeling - and the remainder of the song is great. If I just pick a track, any track and play it on its own, I really enjoy it - I think it’s just the cumulative effect of the album which brings me down.

Russian Circles has always kinda bored me, for all those reasons. They have a winning sound and their best stuff is good, but they don't do enough to keep it interesting.
To me. I know loads of people who seem to love them, so I feel like it's just me missing something

Me likewise. Each album has some real gems but overall I find them very inconsistent. Perfect band for a playlist, just grabbing a couple of tracks from each. Don’t think I’d ever play an album all the way through anymore.
