For me 'Bug' is by no means bad. It just kinda sounds like a standard issue, run of the mill Alex G song. The other stuff on the album is mostly much different

i think beach music woulda been better if alex g produced it (the UMO bassist produced it i think) cuz i feel like it sounds too polished but im still satisfied with what i got in the end plus quite a few of the songs there have duster vibes which i really fuck with. he's still one of the most consistent artists these days

I think I'm pretty disappointed with Beach Music. So many songs go at the same mid tempo plodding pace and songs like Station, Walk, and Mud are nothing special at all. Not to mention Snot is such a boring closer I mean it just fades in and fades out without going anywhere. As far as the production goes I think DSU sounds much crisper, everything on Beach sounds compressed and rarely does a certain aspect try to stand out in the mix.

Idk. Honestly I hope It will grow on me overtime but I still can't see myself ever enjoying it as much as Trick, DSU or even Race. It's still a solid album though.

i dont think alex g will ever top dsu or trick tbh
im still letting it grow on me since alex g's lyrics are an important part of my enjoyment and lyrics always take a while for me to absorb plus i cant make out all the lyrics atm but yeah musically i hoping for a little more variety and less polish and sheen

alex g's talent musically is what got me into him and I honestly feel like he is more than capable to top dsu and trick, beach music just isn't it.
i do think kicker might be one of my favorite songs by him though, I just really love his vocal performance on it. His vox sound a little rougher and kinda more mature.
