The Ramones are such an important rock band because they sum up better than most just how blazingly UNIMPORTANT rock music is. So much writing about rock music attempts to pump up the stuff with all manner of overblown vitality, but it's just junk food. It's cookies and candy. Most of the best of it is made by young people who have nothing unique to say about the human condition yet. A lot of it (even the good stuff) might even make you dumber. Embrace that, I say. I do.



I put on a Ramones record and I want to smash windows to the frivolity. I bop my head around to the primal simplicity. I'm ripping up my jeans and fantasizing about starting my own band. I think and act like a fool.



But I recognize that. So it's okay.



Recognize that in yourself, too, and you'll be okay. At least by me. (Admittedly, that's not worth much.)



So, this album is nothing but great punk rock songs, little explosions of melody and buzzsaw guitar. I can sing along with it all. It's four New York City creeps playing blunt and minimalist rock tunes about being New York City creeps. From start to finish, it never stops slashing at you. It leaves you with your head in your own lap. It's fourteen songs that the band would rewrite over and over again throughout their career. But that's okay. It's just rock music.

HOW TO MAKE A POP FROM PUNK?

I just can not take this, stupid lyrics, madonna is much better, and i�m listening to hc/punk scene all my life.

This has only historical value, but it is a pure shit for me.

Ramones, 2/10 best album.
