I've seen a lot of people claiming Dark Passion Play is their favorite, idk, might be a time and moment thing.

I have a major soft spot for Imaginaerum, but Dark Passion Play is still fun.

dpp is also my favorite, "the poet and the pendulum" and "escapist" (though its not on the album lol) are a big part of the reason

So NW's side project Auri's second record comes out this friday. Didn't even know it even existed, and upon checking their website I thought the singer was Annette, but nope, she just looks like here. Will definitely check it though.

And even funnier is the fact that the following week Annette has a solo album and it sounds exactly like her NW era lol

“Annette has a solo album and it sounds exactly like her NW era lol”

I mean, wasn’t the whole point of The Dark Element to essentially scratch that ‘I want to make more NW albums’ itch?

Surprised she isn’t just working this material into a third TDE record.

I haven't heard TDE but I am pretty sure this solo album sounds exactly like that.

Auri is great, looking forward to the new record! Tuomas' wife is on vocal duty on that project. Her voice is just lovely and fits Auri perfectly

Oooh so that's who! I'm lukewarm on the two singles, sounds a bit too cheesy for me but still, I'll give it a cursory listen.

The Dark Element is fun, honestly both albums are worth a spin they’re pretty good, albeit being fairly cheesy.

Auri (2018) is a pretty wild album, a bit all over the place but there's a tremendous amount of untapped talent there. Tuomas' wife has an incredible voice that pairs well with his exploratory musical stylings, but as a whole it doesn't really reach the highs I feel it wants to. I'm definitely looking forward to the upcoming album though.

The Dark Element is something I still really need to dive into as well. Wasn't a huge fan of Annette in Nightwish but partially because I was blindly a Tarja maximalist. I just found out Jani Liimaitenen (ex-Sonata Arctica, Insomnium) wrote all the music for The Dark Element, so you know the music is at least gonna be a 10/10. Gotta get on that at some point
