It's out. Checking it right now.

I like a lot the new one but why this band ended up sounding like they are playing inside an amp next to a huge fan. I mean, is it really necessary to saturate EVERYTHING?

it leaked ages ago but i held out like a good boi
and yh basically the story goes that they introduced LOUDNESS production one One and Sixes and it was awkward, and then they kinda worked around surprisingly well here by using ultra compressed minimalism as a complementary aesthetic to their songwriting rather than a something that just kinda *happened* over standard low songs. given that the new one is supposedly more glitch and industrial oriented i wouldn't expect this to change

all 3 new songs were, for lack of a better comparison, like b-sides of this. “Days like these” I think it was called straight up reminded me of low doing high school musical

It's an interesting experiment for sure, for some tracks, a full album is a bit too much, let alone two of them lol
Still, really liked it, if it had mooooore... orthodox instrumentation, I would have rated it even higher, cause them melodies and harmonies, damn.

Comparing days like these to hs musical is without a doubt the fail of the year

It’s a good album. That’s about it. Few great tracks, few binners, a decent experiment but ultimately one with diminishing returns. Still more enjoyable than not, however, which is a success in the end, I suppose. 🤷🏼♂️
Edit: I’m an idiot and thought this was the thread for HEY WHAT lol. I’m leaving my error here in shame.

I appreciate that they really want to shed the "slowcore" tag and just make something completely distinct and how hard they push the avant-garde experimentation, I wish more bands would do something like that

Similar to Lambchop shedding the 'alt country' tag on their last three electronic/jazz informed albums.
In both cases I really rate where both bands have ended up, I like the latest Low about as much as 'Double Negative'.

Yeah u should. All Low is good Low though. Better to take time with and between each one though, I found them more samey when first getting into them than I do now. In fact I kinda stopped after Things We Lost because it was a bit much and I still have like 5 of their albums to hear.
