This cd inspired me to quit the alexisonfire rip-off band i was in and start something id be proud of.

The lyrics are bueno.

The guitars are still quite technical for a one guitarist band

the drums are appropriate, but interestingly enough, make the really good tracks. blame truth, exits and trails, turncoat revolution, and scrape wisdom all have creative drum parts

the bass is present to make up for rhythm section loss

tis goooood.

I gotta agree, this album has grown a bit on me. As for the guitar work I think the dude does an excellent job with it, he covers rhythm and lead exceptionally well for one guy. He's no Justin Beck but he gets the job done.

I could swear the opening of "Exits and Trails" sounds like the opening to Poison the Well's "Botchla"... well not 100%, but I immideatelly had to think of that one.

I haven't bothered with this. I still find the band really boring. I don't know what it is, just that nothing about it stands out for me.

This is pretty good, I think it's just barely worse than Cryonics.

It's definitely going to be Top 5 on my year end list. I relistened today and it's great.

I really don't see what's so great about his vocals. His scream is even lazy almost. It seems like it lacks passion when he screams. Don't get me wrong, his vocals are great on a track like "Silence in Failure," but like the whole 'I'm kind of scream, but I'm not really it's just singing at a louder volume' just sounds weird. It's very awkward.

oh and just to let you know, I don't have any other Hot Cross album, so I really don't know what he sounded like before, but yeah. This Message Edited On 10.02.07

Screamo is one of the only genres I just can't get into, except Circle Takes the Square. Can't not get into those guys.

Hot Cross owns, I hope they get back together. Risk Revival is good, however it doesn't quite stand up to their previous work. Kill The Name or Turncoat would probably have to be my favorite song off this.

Is this what Tacoma would have been?

I don't understand the question. It wasn't recorded for this album I don't think. It was only for that split with Light the Fuse and Run, which was post-Cryonics but pre-Risk Revival. Even the first recording I think.

I think he was referring to the rumors that this album was going to be named Tacoma

Indeed, that was it. I knew Hot Cross was to release an album titled "Tacoma", and I thought they had just re-titled it "Risk Revival", but I just wanted confirmation from someone more knowledgeable about Hot Cross .

Nick, I posted this on your blog, and you may very well already have it, but I have a 3 song demo EP that the Kidcrash released if you want it. It's pretty cool, sort of like a blend of New Ruins and Jokes. Called "I Haven't Had A Date In 4 Years"...no idea if it is hard to acquire or not. If anyone else wants it, hit me up on AIM, JordanS0012

Nahh I don't really want it. I'm more interested in finding their L'antietam split.
