i don't understand all the praise for this. an "Excellent" album? a "Classic"? how about a band that listens to a lot of Echo And The Bunnymen and doesn't even hide it very well? pfft.....This Message Edited On 03.07.07

also i should say i do not dislike the album. i think its good as you can tell from my rating and am listening to it now. its just that i don't hear the reason for all the high praise. not bad, though....

Well, especially the first half of the album is absolute perfect and the second half grew on me heavily over the last few days. I adore Neon Bible. This Message Edited On 03.07.07

A couple days ago I would have given this a 3 but it's really grown on me.
It doesn't match funeral but it's still great, there's not a single song I'd skip. The difference is that with funeral I wouldn’t even think about skipping a track.
Still, the use of reverb in some songs, more layering and whatnot are nice additions.
I quite like Black Mirror, Intervention, Black Wave and No Cars Go (album quality production and an increased tempo have really helped it).

From what I've heard of this album I like it more than Funeral. To me the sound is more
consistent and closer to what I liked about their first album. This Message Edited On 03.08.07

This album is absolutely incredible. I feel it's better than funeral, maybe because its so atmospheric and dark but hey thats what I like. Definitely worth the $7.98 at Target, so far its the album of the year.

It's a great album. My favorite song is The Well and the Lighthouse, which is probably the song that sounds the most like Funeral, and My Body Is a Cage, probably the song that sounds the least like Funeral.
While both are great albums, I think Funeral is better. The lyrics here seem a bit weak in places, and Funeral seems like a more balanced record overall. A strong 3,5 from me for now.

It's pretty good, better than some are making it out to be. No Cars Go is the best song of 07 so far.

Except for the fact that it was released in 2003.

Yeah. That's an incredible song. This album is awesome, and they're playing at Roskilde.

I bought the special edition at Best Buy... I got two flipbooks... what a ripoff.
The albums great at least.
Intervention really stood out for me.

I found this to be an incredibly average album, too much of the same thing over and over, and there was barely anything that would stick in my head. There was nothing that would The faster songs sound alike, the midpaced "big" songs sounded too overdone and alike, and the title track is completely boring. The only good songs I found on it were Keep The Car Running, Intervention, the first half of Black Wave / Bad Vibrations, Ocean of Noise, and No Cars Go. The rest are easily skipped.

The beginning and ending songs are terrible, but everything in between I love.

wtf are you smoking? My Body is a Cage is probably the best song on the album.

My Body Is A Cage isn't awful, but it's not the best song on the album.

Did My Body is a Cage remind anyone else of Phil Collins?
