I dont mind this album, I think they are moving in the right direction, plus you can actually hear the bass on a couple of tracks.

Good review. I will probably never listen to this album, or a Linkin Park song intentionally.

Spot on review. The whole things sounds like concepts that remained half baked -- almost as if they were afraid of taking it further.

That said, I'm actually a bit excited with the direction they seem to be taking.

I think what really kills the album is lack of any sort of dynamic on the slow songs. In the hard and fast numbers it's ok since... well.. they're hard. But without any dynamic the soft songs become dull and begin to drone. Even Chester's soft singing voice, though good, lacked the aforementioned dynamics. The whole thing's at the same volume throughout. And since slow songs dominate the album.... well....

I was actually surprised to find a very U2s With or Without You-ish number on the album. Damn.. they seem to be trying everything

I personally thought the single off this album blew.. I probably won't be listening to this album any time soon.

Nice review though. This Message Edited On 05.16.07

The music doesn't sound like meteora anymore because chester and the rest of the band aren't pissed off anymore

this album is average at VERY best. I thoguht maybe 2 or 3 songs were pretty good.. The rest is too slow, and very boring imho. and whats with this political statement in hands held high, please..spare us, what is this american idiot?

Linkin Park also seem to be the masters of churning out the same riffs with different vocals and a new song name...listen to the breakdown in "given up" hmm.

i honestly thought that the slower songs (specifically the third song and the shadow day song) were the best ones on the album. it was pretty damn good. i think In between was lame. not the song itself, but shinoda trying to do vocals. that was really bad. i thought he was stressing his voice too much and think that if they ever play that live, they won't accomplish it very well.

I can't really comment, I'm just glad to see that "nu metal" fad dying out.
Good review.

Not a fan of the band but Rubin's involvement has me interested. I've only heard the single, man what a radio polish it's got!
It sounds like they've moved away from their past somewhat which I guess is a positive. But if you can't write good songs, the consumers will speak with their wallets and mouses.
