I'm jamming this again as we speak. Icon is up next. m/

Always found this a tad more consistent than Icon, but True Belief is probably my fave PL song.

True Belief is probably my 2nd favourite. Both records are very consistent, with Icon focusing more on atmosphere and this one on some variety and other songwriting aspects.

"Today is the official 20th anniversary of the release of Draconian Times! Who knew back in 1995 we would still be here today, releasing albums?! We would like you all to raise a glass to celebrate while listening to "Hallowed Land" as you get ready for the weekend. "
Oh yeah!

After a couple listens of each I'd say I prefer this over Icon by a little bit. They're both so good.

All I need is a simple reminder...
Yes, they're both incredible. Spinning the CD again to celebrate.

Why isn't this properly reviewed? No offense to the guy who wrote this, but this needs a staff review

Best PL period.

Best PL by far, and the reason why I can't rate their new album with a rating above 4/5.
The only thing that hasn't aged so well in here, is the production, it's understandable though.
|
| |
Hehe, to be honest I kinda like the production : )

^^I like it too, but it sort of gives away the time it was realized ;)

That's true mate, but I actually miss this production approach in a lot of today's stuff... fucking loudness wars and compression; most albums nowadays sound like a big mush of unidentifiable instruments, as there's no room for dynamics, etc...
LOL I'm getting old n grouchy!

fucking loudness wars and compression
true that.
Hopefully, there's a slight turn for more physical sounding productions on behalf of both acclaimed and obscure outfits.
Another thing that needs fixing is the number of tracks; there's this "corporate" belief that an album should contain as much material as possible, just because the CD/LP is expensive to buy.
I can't imagine Iron Maiden putting more tracks to their first 5-6 albums, it wouldn't be the same imho.

Every metal album released today sounds like it has the same producer.
|
| |
I dont mean it literally, its just metal albums had a lot more character in the past for the most part. Now they all sound pretty similar production wise.
