i mean i went straight from tri repetae into confield and if i had gone to this or chiastic or LP5 instead i probably wouldn't have looked into more of their stuff just because that album was so impressive and crazy and mind boggling to me. like the characteristics that generally make it not a good starting place for people were exactly what hooked me into it.
knowing demi/his taste i think he could handle it

i didnt listen to any other autechre for like a good year after i first heard tri repetae and it took me almost another year for me to decide they were my favorite artists
idk if there is really a way to ease someone in, they have to be willing to put in the effort to go through the catalogue and you cant just make them have that

Yea I think that analogy is best used when talking about someone being eased into genres of music rather than artists, and even then there's a lot of artists with crossover appeal that could spark their interest enough to handle weirder shit in those genres
Dem pretty much only listens to Boards of Canada as far as Electronic/IDM stuff goes so going by the assumption that he'd be interested in more stuff like that I don't think there's any specific album that would make it any easier than others since there's not really anything from Autechre that's really like BoC (Though their earlier material is more traditionally beat driven like how Boc do it so there's that). But also has to do with what exactly do you wanna hear and how open minded you are anyway
