Wake is very, very overlooked for that absolutely retarded reason. Who cares if it's similar to court? That doesn't mean it can't be almost as good!

It may not tread much new ground but I judge it more on its own quality rather than being similar to In the Court.

i'm not saying it's not good (it is), but the reason i prefer discipline to it is that it's way more ambitious and breaks completely new ground in the context of their catalogue

I might actually prefer Wake to In the Court to be honest. I don't care if it doesn't break any more new ground, it shows the band building/refining what they did on their debut and if anything I think it's slightly better overall. It's funny that it was universally considered to be better than Court when it was released, how things change eh?

Oh, I prefer Discipline all day long, bro. I wasn't digging at you. I've just heard the 'it's too similar to court' vibe too often. Most of Blur's albums sound the same, but that doesn't bring anyone of them down.

fair enough, it definitely has its moments

though i don't know what the hell you're talking about with blur, they have one of the most diverse discogs in indie music

Their later stuff agreed, but I found the first 4 to be very similar. Maybe that's just me.

the first one is completely different to the 3 that followed it, it's very shoegaze/madchester influenced with none of the 60s influences they showed subsequently

i'll admit that the modern life - great escape era sounds pretty much uniform though

if you're going to cite a britpop band for having a stagnant sound, then oasis are exhibit A x100000

This has grown on me a bit. At least it's better than Construkction of Light.

To me, they're about equal. My one big problem with In the Court is in track selection/placement. There's never anything as energetic as 21st Century Schizoid man on the entire album, and having it be the first track is really imbalanced and misleading for the record. Also, interesting side note: I was surprised at how little input Robert Fripp had in the writing of that album
