labonza, where do you live? I live in a rather populated Suburban area and everybody knows about them. Even at my isolated, preppy college tons of people know about Underoath.

I swear every show I go to I see at least 5 people wearing underoath stuff, they are pretty popular around here. I bought this CD since I hadn't heard much by them and was seeing them with Thrice so I picked this up since it was the only underoath cd at the store. Turned out the CD wasn't bad, some pretty good songs but after awhile just gets annoying, blends together, and the songs sounds very similar.

Sounds like most people feel this is their weakest album so I was just looking for a recommended album by the group.

they are not popular around here, in my little part of WI. i have both of their full lengths, and i really like both. the first one had Dallas as a screamer though.. which he was good, but i like the new guy better. I think he should just scream more on this album. they used to be almost hardcore, but now they are barely post-hardcore. the first cd also had a lot more christian ties into it than this one, which is one more thing i like about this album. if you want to see a really good live performance head over to www.punkrockvids.com and check out "A Boy Brushed Red... Living in Black and White".. it is incredible.
i'd give this album 3.5/5

if u must know, dfelon, i live in a stupid small crappy town that i hate, but still i dont understand why people think they are overhyped just because alot of people like it. that must mean its GOOD, so stop freakin out about "oh no, im not the only person who likes underoath, they must be overhyped and suck" and yea, once again, i like this band alot

that damrod dude knows alot about music. i dont always agree with his reviews but hes good at it.

i havent heard any old UO but i love this album. i think it has a great display of evergy and passion for music. the songs are really catchy. i hated this band until i could recognise the songs. i just hope that they dont turn into some death metal band and start to change their image. cuz they are awesome. at my school people either love them or hate them. and the people that love them will keep doing it. as long as they keep a good balance and dont over do the screaming then i love them.

This was one of the worst concerts I've ever seen. They opened up for The Bled and Thrice, and they were TERRIBLE. Before every song, the singer would say, "This one goes out to Jesus Christ," which all fine and dandy, but every song? Come on...it just got annoying after the 3rd song or so. Also, they have a guy who "plays" the keyboards up there, and I swear I didnt hear a single note from the keyboard the whole time. This guy just jumped around and headbanged. I gotta say though, the singer's got some pipes, and the guitarists had some pretty good riffs. I'm not a huge fan of these guys, but there's some potential there if they refine their live shows!!

Well, it all comes down to personal taste (like I mentioned already in a comment here). I'm not completely disliking the type of music underOATH fit into, but I think there are bands that are just better IMO.

I agree with labonza01, everyone has their own taste in music. I listen to both... So, yeah.

Anyways, to me, when I listen to some of their songs, like The Impact of Reason, they kind of sound like Taking Back Sunday, but not by much, but there's no way that they sound like Hawthorne. At all. But IMO, I like "Some Will Seek Forgiveness, While Others Escape", and next to that is "I Don't Feel Very Receptive Today". This Message Edited On 02.02.06This Message Edited On 02.02.06

I dont know what some of you guys are talking about. UnderOATH rules all. They sound nothing like the used.Far from it! Im sorry but the used sucks. I like some of there songs but still. I have no idea who hawthorne heights is but im sure UnderOath is better :P but yes. Underoath's new cd is amazing. This cd is the one that got me loving them so much. Sure there arent many songs but a lot of bands have less songs than this one does. The songs Im content with losing, Some will seek forgivnes.., A boy brushed red...,Reinventing your exit, its dangerous bussiness... the impact of reason....well ok The whole cd rules. and so do the others.

i like this album over the older ones because there are less screaming
Spencer scream is just not really good to me
Almost as bad as Hawthorne Heights' screaming
But i still like his vocal tho
The previous albums is all filled with those terrible screams and it just doesnt sound right to meThis Message Edited On 02.03.06
