3 and a half stars that's a bit off 4 stars yeah this is one of stripes best it proves that he's capable of anything from 'we are going to be friend' to 'the nurse'

I didn't like this quite that much at first, but I've given it a few more listens and it's starting to grow on me.
Jack White's voice has changed quite a bit. In a way, it's gotten better, but it's sort of starting to get worse too.

I can't really make up my mind on the Stripes. Every album seems to have an even split of tracks I love and tracks I can't stand, including this one.

This is my favorite white stripes album. I baught this album likeing the single blue orchid and was surprised when i got to track 2. Every song on this album grows on you. Because of this album I goy everything they ever did and im going to see there concert.

Why do all their album covers contain the colour red? It's getting more than an obsession, it's freaky!
|
| |
i compare the white stripes to marmite you either love em or you hate em in my case it's both some songs are catchy and differ greatly from other mainstream stuff but I just dnt get the whole only wearin black white nad red thing it's border line obsessional

There is a very exotic feel to this album... THE NURSE is barmy...

man i rekon this album kicks ass, denial twist and instinct blues r the best, this kills elephant. no doubt, surely someone agrees.

Jack White is not super technical in his playing.
Meg White is not the best drummer (or even that good at all).
They are not about being a polished, mixed to death studio band.
Given the simplicity of things, they have written some really great songs.
The White Stripes are not perfect.
This is exactly why I like them so much.

this album rocks, what r u ppl talkin bout? the sound is raw and oldskool, and great songs, this album kills elephant, that suked...

Thank you, Lemon8!!
I love the Stripes; one of my favorite bands. A lot of people don't seem to "get" the fact that they're so simple: THAT'S THE POINT!! But to each their own, you know?
Like I loved Satan. And absolutely just can't get into White Blood Cells at all. But De Stijl is probably my favorite, followed by the S/T.

I first had elephant and decided to get this album. My first impression was sh.it! too much piano, not enough electric guitar. Over time though the piano type no rock songs have grown on me and i've decided that its not too bad. But I just think that theres too much piano and not enough rock, which is why elephant is my fave. This Message Edited On 03.10.06

yeah i bought this album because of the single blue orchid, thinking the rest of the album was going to follow a similar style, but boy was i wrong. i was incredibly surprised when i got to track 2 and at first didnt think much of it, but yeah as said before every track goes on you and its a decent album. better than de stijl, but i like all the other stuff beta. and i like it how they're so simple, but yet sound so good

I also kinda like the Nurse.

I'm one of those people who loves The Nurse, but I see where your coming from. Other than that, I agree with everything here. This album isn't great, but its interesting enough to be worth a listen.

Get Behind me Satan, has got nothing on Elephant. Personally i think the White Stripes are a little to overrated. I've seen them live up against a series of not so well known bands, and the Stripes just about bored me to tears. Hate to say it, but they dissapoint me, but don't let me put you off, Elephant is a great CD which sought of makes up for what Get Behind Me Satan Lacks.

I agree with constant, the white stripes have got to be the most overrated band recently. I honestly cant see the big fuss about them they are just your usual typical shitty garage rock band. Their music bores the living crap out of me.
