Don't like the review all that much. It's more a comparison to the other songs in Queen's discography than a review of the album.
I thought the idea was to tell anyone (even someone who has never heard an album by that artist before) what the album is like?
I could sum up his review in a couple of lines...
Queen were in trouble, they needed a hit single. They got it. The entire album sucked but that single. Oh, and there were a couple decent songs in their as well.

You forgot about how this album offered nothing new and was just retreads (and bad one's) of what they had done in the past.

Queen II, Sheer Heart Attack, A Night at the Opera are all fantastic. My personal favorite is Queen II though. It includes moments of pure brilliance.

This is probably Queen's worst album. In Hot Space and The Game the band was at least trying to do something new and innovative.
