i think its a tiny bit better than akeldema. its just more of a style thing rather than quality.
but akeldema does have that nostalgia factor goin for it. after all i have been followin this band since their demo days

Leica is definately my favourite song from their first album. I have yet to listen to this and after seeing comments/review I'm a bit iffy on whether I want to or not. Don't let the negative nancys of sputnikmusic deter you, this at the very least worth checking out.
and a 2.5 rating for this album is not quite fitting, this is not average in the least bit. none of it may be groundbreaking but its not just run-of-the-mill tech death

Great review man. My only complaint is the part about "stealing" the sound clip from a tool song.
The sound clip is actually this big area 51 crazy cover-up thing about some guy calling into a talk show and have apparently worked at area 51, and he said all of that on the call, and then the transmission was lost.
Yeah so, it's just a big gay area 51 thing, they didn't take it from tool. If anything they took it from the talk show, haha

Of course I'm aware that Tool didn't create the audio clip or anything. My main gripe is that another band has already used the clip, so it just detracts from my overall enjoyment of the part.

After listening to this I'd probably give it a 4, haven't quite decided if it's better or worse than Akeldema. However I do find the robot vocals somewhat displeasing. I never liked them in Cynic either.

hmm...did everyone completely ignore the complete awesomness of track 9? The entire song was imo the best track on the
album, it was pure gold!!! The first half of that song sent chills up my spine, hauntingly good guitar playing.
0.26 to 0.52 gave me goosebumps. the whole song was a standout for me, anyone else feel the same?
Legions of the Serpent was also amazing...

Yeah the Title track (part II) is fantastic, probably my second favorite on the album only behind XenoChrist, which is damn near perfect. Legions of Serpents would be my third favorite probably then its toss up between the other 4 real tracks, too hard for me to decide between them. I really enjoy the two interlude tracks as well.

I want to wire up a double bass pedal to the drummer's head and beat his fucking head out with it. I got halfway through track 2 before I had to give up, it really annoyed the living fuck out of me.

They never once bothered me. I don't see why someone would ever have to stop listening to this album because of the way the fucking bass drums sound
|
| |
Maybe because the drumming is ridiculously annoying, and consistently so. Even ignoring that, the album doesn't really have any redeeming factors.

naw it's pretty damn good tbh.

I personally like the clicky bass drum when it came to this CD normally i don't like but i think that the music so compensated for it so much that i didn't make it a issue. i would say xenochrist no doubt is a stand out track. but to me that best track is prison born. It's short and to the point and it's gnarly in the beggining and it's a perfect opener for a CD. i think a punch in the face is what alot of these newer bands are missing so it's nice to see someone kicke me in the balls and i must inform you that i am listening to this on 5.1 surround sound. so i may have a diff experiance. but the first song was and IS epic as hell. more epic than xenochrist . and the track Planetary duality I(Hideous revelation) So reminds me of the game DEAD SPACE. and this CD would go great with that game. I love concept albums. i wished they would have capitalized on the concept more by more samples. just my opinion. but i like that sort of stuff.
