A very good album, though I prefer Superunknown more. Still, Rusty Cage and Outshined are both awesome.

The best album by the best band to come out of Seattle. Nirvana was frustrated, Pearl Jam is depressed, but Soundgarden was angry and that's what set them apart.
Great review of a great record.

This is the best Soundgarden album in the sense that it *is* Soundgarden for what it is. Take it or leave it. No fancy production, no sensibilities, no "going in a different direction".
Whoever doesn't like Slaves and Bulldozers because it's pushing seven minutes, c'mon, get an attention span. If you have to have radio-friendly times, play it in double time.

This album is great because it is just raw power. I do like Superunknown better, but this album shows Soundgarden at their energy peak. Searching With My Good Eye Closed is very trippy and I love it, and Slaves and Bulldozers is so intense. Great album.

I just heard Jesus Christ Pose (and while listening realised what he meant by it) and it was good enough to peak my interest. I have been digging Soundgarden lately.

This is one of my favourite albums, it's a lot more polished then Louder Then Love in terms of songwriting but a lot rawer and less varied then Superunknown. It has some killer songs on it.
My ratings -
1. Rusty Cage - 10/10
2. Outshined - 10/10
3. Slaves & Bulldozers - 10/10
4. Jesus Christ Pose - 10/10

6. Somewhere - 10/10
7. Searching With My Good Eye Closed - 9/10

9. Mind Riot - 10/10
10. Drawing Flies - 10/10
11. Holy Water - 10/10

I swear blind i love all these songs to death, everything on here i've rated 10 is mindblowing to me. The 9 ratings are only slightly less awesome.

Badmotorfinger has one flaw: the drums. They sound a bit limp.
Luckily Matt Cameron bought a new kit just in time for Superunknown.

No, you couldn't possibly.

The first half of this album is of course awesome, but anyone who thinks the second half is anything close to filler didn't really listen to this record.
Room a Thousand Years Wide and Mind Riot are forgotten Soundgarden greats that both show off the best of Thayil/Cornell's greatest trademarks.
Of the last three, Holy Water and New Damage bring to mind how this album got mainstream acceptance considering the dissonance and ambition of those songs. All of it is still bursting with creative energy.

Great riffs, Cornell's voice is superb, Matt Cameron is awesome on the drums. No reason this album shouldn't get praise. "Holy Water" is so awesome.
