Potemkin City Limits great track.
Quoted for major truth. I'm still listening to this and it's been great. Will more than likely be a 4.

This is my first album from the band, still getting used to the vocals a bit. Overall the album reminds me some of A Wilhelm Scream.

Quoth abelprisc on songmeanings.net:
"Once again, Propagandhi is here to say what many people don't want to hear, but this time it's about a Canadian icon. Anyone who lives in Canada or is educated on the sport of hockey knows Don Cherry.
Ron McLean and Don Cherry host the very popular CBC show Hockey Night in Canada which is a pregame show right before 'the' Saturday night hockey game every week. Don Cherry uses the airtime to ramble on about specific hockey players and plays, talks about the Canadian troops overseas, and gives advice specifically directed towards children.
Unfortunately, he's not the type of person who should be an icon for such a great sport, and especially not someone who should be a role model for children. He's infamous for xenophobic, racist comments, and has shown many examples of being closed-minded and extremely thick-headed (as the clip before the song would indicate).
This song is important to me, as it is to Propagandhi as described in the lyrics. Any hockey fan should be terrified of this man teaching their children morals and values. My time spent in Canada shows that a lot of Canadians wrap themselves cozily in the mindset that this man is respectable, and Propagandhi feels that's dangerous (as do I).
EDIT: Oh, and the reason the letter is being directed to Ron McLean specifically is because Don Cherry is impossible to get through. His response to criticism is usually loud-mouthed, immature banter and childish insults- and Ron McLean is always the 'voice of reason' that gets muted by Cherry's incessant yelling."
That, basically. This Message Edited On 03.10.09

Wow Wilhelm Scream, light on the cheese. This is great so far.

Thanks for clearing it up, StrizzMatik. Not being a hockey fan, I only know what I know by osmosis: that Cherry is a raging puck-head who knows nothing about hockey, a brooding patriot with no concept of patriotism and all-in-all a gigantic boob of a person. I know more about Maclean just by having met him and heard about him, having many professors that have worked alongside him in the past. And yeah, I'd say Maclean is the voice of reason more than a pushover, he just doesn't get involved in Cherry's ramblings because why bother?

Depends what spectrum of political thought you belong to. I'm lefty but the whole animal rights thing is a little ridiculous IMO. It's a proven fact that there are essential amino acids you can't get anywhere else but in meat (unless you like popping seven kinds of pills a day), and the fact is, meat is fucking tasty. Anyways, Prop isn't even the most militant about the vegan thing - they slammed Earth Crisis a while back for their Veganazism.

I'm not a huge fan of their politics, but the music rules. I enjoy them. While eating meat. And it's good.
Oh yeah, and as a pretty big hockey fan...everyone here has got it right. Cherry is fucking idiot. This Message Edited On 03.11.09

Yeah, I'm pretty skeptical about the bands endorsement of PETA as it's one of the shadiest, most retarded organizations ever. Not because of what they stand for, protecting animals is an ok cause I guess, but the harsh extremes they believe in and would go to achieve it. As long as the band keeps making good music, I won't complain, though.

I would like to get to know the rest of the album better but I find myself trapped in having to repeat Dear Coach's Corner and Potemkin City Limits over and over again. Very few punkrock bands or songs still affect me, but fuck-me-sideways are these good.

I have probably listened to Potemkin City Limits more times than the rest of the songs put together...
