I will do that later today and report back shortly... although I doubt I'll like it. I'm not the biggest fan of muddy productions.

NMF is one of the best death metal albums ever so I'll be really surprised if you don't like it Willie and the production on it isn't muddy. This Message Edited On 03.22.09

Yeah, you can't compare Cynic's newest to this. The association was back in the day. When you compare Cynic's "Focus" to Pestilence's "Spheres" album when they were both shooting for the jazz/death metal mix... only Cynic hit their mark though.

So, have you made up for this shortcoming yet and looked into this band?

Hey Willie do you know when Atheist's new album is out?

Btw, I'm gonna listen to this album later if it makes you happy.

It will make me happy.

Atheist's new album will be out in the fall, but in the meantime the Gnostic album will be out May 25th (Which features the Atheist drummer as well as both of Atheist's current guitar players... except one of them plays bass in Gnostic and guitar in Atheist).

Edit: I'm sorry I failed you, Fireabove There's nothing new that I can really recommend off of the top of my head. I'm really into Primordial's "Storm Before Calm" album. Check that out, I think it's their best.

I'm not into their more recent stuff either. "Storm Before the Calm" is basically black metal with some cool things going on in it. I

don't think he sings anywhere on it.

Are you into The Gathering? Their new one is floating around already.

Really, cool. It's a good album but it seems to have fans divided. People that previously liked this band aren't too happy with this because it's not as proggy, but people that didn't really like them (like me) see this as an improvement. If they can combine the two styles for the next album that would be cool.

Mmmmm... Cannibal Corpse meets Voivod... you shouldn't say anything more... It's already a must for me...

The Voivod influences don't really shine through until the 5th track, but then it's pretty consistent.
