Well spotted Ross.
I'm a harsh man Marko. You need to do more failing yourself.
Coffee or tea in your thermos James? And the reason why you didn't buy tickets to the RA gig was because we have already ascertained that you hate coming to Melbourne! Thermos carrier.
Boognish, you are wrong.
Shindip, you'll have a great time. They put on a cracking show.
I suppose you could put up an argument that they are over-rated, but that's all relative. You could also say they are very under-rated in many senses. As for why I do not think they are over-rated, I personally believe they have made punk and/or melodic hardcore (depending on what you view them as) more accessible than any other band. Sure, there are other (bordering on) punk bands that have had success in the mainstream, but very little in the hardcore area.

Straight whisky mate, non of this coffee or tea crap : )
Haha true.. though i am travelling up the olde Geelong - Melbourne road tomorrow to see some Zeibell destruction by the mighty Higgins and crew
|
| |
Haha, well it's hard not to spot. Btw were you on a bit of a sound-off craze the other day?

Haha James. I'd hope there was a bit of something mixed in with the whiskey. Ahhh, good to see that the kangas are the only thing mighty enough to get you down to Melbourne.
Yeah, that was me going sound-off crazy Ross. I had a good listen to Muse's 4 studio albums a few weeks back and was umming & ahhing as to whether or not to review them. With only a few weeks between now & my vacation, I decided to just do sound-offs for them... For the time being anyway.
I actually just noticed Muse will be supporting U2 in New York in September. Interesting timing as I thought they would have still been in the studio working on the new album at that time.

I'm really surprised you gave an album a 5 without reviewing it, I mean I thought you'd have at least reviewed Absolution and left the others as sound-offs. When you off?

Yeah, I'm surprised as well. It was probably the only thing which made me think twice about doing sound-offs for the 4 albums to be honest. I may very well come back and do a full review for 'Absolution'. It's always possible since I quite frequently listen to it anyway. Why wouldn't I when it's almost perfect!
I fly out of Oz mid May, but am unsure if I will still be reviewing all the way up until then. It depends on how many things I leave until the last minute before traveling!
|
| |
Haha yeah, well I'm sure it will be a good review as always. Personally I think Origin of Symmetry is slightly better than Absolutions, but they are both great albums and both worthy 4's from me.
Ahh that sounds cool, and fair enough on the reviewing front, it feels weird thinking that you will be having a hiatus.

Yep, in my absence Ross, someone will have to step up & deliver the goods consistently. Can you think of anyone who might be able to do that? ***nudge nudge, wink wink***

Muse will be supporting U2
that sentence just doesnt sound right.. Muse supporting?
|
| |
Oh and what a lovely win by Higgins and crew this weekend! Would you agree there Davey?? haha my thermos got me threw the end of the 4th quater, thats for sure!

You're totally correct James. Muse supporting anyone at the moment sounds totally wrong. I can understand why they are doing it I guess, but the timing is interesting. I wonder if there will be any new songs floating around the web afterwards.
And yes, it was a good workmanlike win for the doggies and that's what they have sometimes struggled to do in the past. No excuses from the kangas. If anything, we wasted too many opportunities when constantly attacking in the 2nd qaurter... Only to have the ball go down the other end for an instant goal to the smiling assassin.

Muse owe a shitload to U2, it's only fair.

What... Have they gone from "Radiohead knock-offs" to "U2 knock-offs" now?
|
| |
Comparing Muse to Radiohead is so fucking 2001, Champ Kind.
It never worked to begin with.

And the U2 comparison works, does it? Oh yeah, both bands play arenas and come from Great Britain... I get it now!
|
| |
Of course U2 comparisons work. Matt Bellamy is indebted to the Edge as a guitarist. The rhythm section also has similarities to Clayton and Mullen, Jr., especially on more recent material.
|

I wouldn't call this band over rated, over here in aus they are barely known...
Do these guys get on the radio in America?
