these kind of jazz albums bore me to tears. i respect the genre, but this sounds like one long, seemingly never ending song, it's so homogeneous-sounding

On its surface it is a little homogenous, but there's still something about this record. I get that most of this is just a basic solo-and-motif structure, but every soloist on here is on point throughout the whole thing, and it shows on stuff like "Locomotion" and "Moment's Notice" where the tempos are quick and every solo gets really exhilarating.
